Trees for Kids Project

Senate bill 1689 has passed which creates a budget to fund tree-planting in public schools.

The budget includes $300K for planting Trees for Kids in low-income schools!

Appropriation of $300,000 to Dept of Education

  • Legislative Priorities

    • P. 11 under EDUCATION: "Support increased programming and funding for student mental and physical health or 'whole student' care and education."

    • P. 15 under ENERGY and ENVIRONMENT: "Support policies that allow major sources to secure a limited number of air quality permits to locate or expand operations for business attraction and retention while ensuring environmental quality."

  • Ozone air pollution is invisible, but it can cause harm likened to "a sunburn on your lungs."

  • Children are especially at risk for lifelong lung impairment when they are exposed to high levels of ozone, such as we have in Arizona
